Puttin’ the Sept in Country 2 Step – September Dance

Is it September already? Worry not, we’re ready to have you falling in love, whether it’s for the first time, or the 500th time, with dance.

Our September dance is mask required and offers a beginner’s West Coast Swing lesson for free, as always.

And for our intermediate dancers, we will be scootin’ our boots in a Country 2-Step lesson taught by Ken and Angela Wolder.

A friendly reminder that the lesson and dance prices have increased effective September 2022 and are as follows:

Intermediate lesson: $8 member, $10 guest, $4 student

Beginner Lesson: Free!

Dance: $12 member, $15 guest, $7 student

Where: Confederation Centre in Burnaby (4585 Albert Street)

When: Saturday September 17th

– Intermediate lesson from 7 – 8 PM

– Beginner lesson from 7 – 8 PM

– Social dance from 8 – 11 PM

About our instructors:

Ken and Angela Wolder will be teaching an intermediate Country 2-step lesson from 7-8 pm. Ken and Angela have been active in the Country and WCS communities for over 20 years. They continue to develop their skills with the top pros, sharing what they’ve learned with local 2-steppers.

Dalynne Roberts will be teaching a beginner lesson from 7-8 pm. Dalynne has been dancing West Coast Swing for the past 10 years and travels to compete in improvisation competitions. She is trained in the Swing Literacy Development Method, and teaches Intro to WCS classes at SwingSoul Sundays at the DanceVancouver studio. A natural teacher, speaker, and entertainer, Dalynne is passionate about making every human feel welcome, included, and inspired.

We accept cash or card payments at the door.

We still require masks, and recommend vaccines.

See you there!

Outdoor Picnic! Pizza! – August 27th

For the first time in what feels like forever, we’re getting together in a space where masks are optional – outdoors!

Come join in the fun, talk with people you don’t normally get a chance to, eat some pizza, and discover what many of us haven’t seen in years — mouths.

This event is open to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you there! We will be at the covered pavilion in the southeast corner of John Hendry park, near the playground and concession stand. Same place as last year! We’ll have some signage/decor marking where we are located in the park so it will be easy for you to find.

Details

  • Saturday, August 27, 2022
  • John Hendry Park
  • 4:30-9:30pm
  • Pizza will be provided, along with soft drinks, sides, desserts, and of course music! (Note: Music is non-edible.)

Our next regularly scheduled social dance is Saturday, September 17th.

I used to have an insecure spiritual pizza advisor. They were a medium with crust issues.

Summer Rally Time – July 23rd

Summer’s definitely here, and so is a special 2-hour lesson starting at 6pm on the International West Coast Rally taught by Michael and Amy Shibasaki! (mask required)

If you’re not familiar with the International Rally, it’s an annual choreography put out for free, and you can learn it. Here’s what it looks like:

As seen without masks. Masks will be required for the lesson.

If you’re not familiar with Michael and Amy, check out their website! https://www.michaelandamywcs.com/

They teach regularly in greater Vancouver and are amazing instructors – you don’t want to miss this.
