New Music Night

New Music Night

Come Find Your New Favorite Song!

As we continue through this socially-distanced period without social dancing, workshops, or conventions, we may not have as many opportunities to hear new music released over the past few months. So join us for our first New Music Night Hosted by our club President, Amanda! She has curated a selection of new songs that will hopefully make you want to get up and dance. We’ll listen to each song (maybe even dance a bit) and then talk about why we like it or hate it, as well as go over places you can go to find new music.

Come participate in the debate, put on your shoes and dance, or just sit back and listen — how much you participate is up to you. The only prerequisite is having an opinion about music 🙂

Have a new song you love (or hate) that you think we should include? Send us an email to info@bcswingdance.ca or post it in the discussion on Facebook!

A little bit about Amanda: she is technically not a WCS DJ (she tried it once), but she has been dancing for 15 years in a variety of styles (both partnered and solo) and has developed some strong opinions about music. She also listens to music every waking hour (not an exaggeration) and has compiled a massive list of WCS-ish songs released since March. She’s eager to hear what you think of her selections.

Have more dance fun without injuries! Learn how to warm up for social dancing and protect your joints with foundational ballet exercises led by Meaghan Efford.

Meaghan is classically trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and other styles. She completed her four-year professional dance training at Ballet San Jose in California, before working as a Corps de Ballet dancer here in Canada. Quarantine Events

While finally getting to all those household chores is fun, I think we all agree that we miss dancing! The Board would like to help, but we don’t know how best to focus our efforts.

We have created a short survey at the link below. Please consider filling it out (should take 1 to 2 minutes max) which will help us orientate ourselves.
