Masks required at our lessons and dance while in the facility. Michael looks tough, but he’s a push-break over.
Where: Confederation Centre in Burnaby (4585 Albert Street)
When: Saturday March 11th, doors open at 6:30 pm
Free beginner’s lesson from 7-8 will be taught by Henry Hwi.
Henry has been dancing for over 11 years. He started with Salsa and other Latin dance forms, and dabbled with International Ballroom before finding his home with West Coast Swing. Since then, he has increased his WCS dance expression with Tap and Hip Hop.
Intermediate WCS class from 7-8 will be taught by Michael and Amy Shibasaki.
The theme for their class is “The Reason Why Your Push Breaks Suck (And How to Fix Them) … #3 will surprise you!”. Michael and Amy met at a BCSDC dance and decided to become practice partners to improve their dancing. Along the way, they fell in love and got married. Now they share their love of the dance with the community. They teach group lessons in Burnaby and Vancouver, and workshops around BC.
The BCSDC Annual General Meeting & Board of Directors election is on February 11th. We will have a lot of turnover on the Board this year, with at least 6 out of 9 members choosing to not return. We are looking to fill all four of the officer positions, which include – President, Vice-President, Treasurer, & Secretary, and the remaining positions will be Directors at Large.
We also have informal roles that we are looking to fill. These are typically filled by Directors of the Board however we will appreciate member assistance with one or more of these roles. Some examples are social media coordinator, website manager (hello!), facility liaison, and 50/50 draw coordinator.
