December Dance

It’s the last dance of the year and often our best attended – the BC Swing Dance’s DECEMBEEEERRRR DAAANNNNNNCEEEEEEE

Bring potluck, take an awesome lesson with Ian and Leigh Kirkconnell, dress to impress, and enjoy the last BC Swing Club dance of the year. Our DJs will be Jason “Bad Boy” Brown and Chris “Ponytail” Dewhurst.

We will be offering 2019 club memberships at this dance to knock down the lineups, so get your pass early and avoid the wait! Also, if you are a new member, signup for a 2019 membership and get December’s monthly membership free.

Note that this dance is an extra hour early but we’re going until midnight to continue the good times.

Join us at 4585 Albert St. at the Confederation Centre in Burnaby. See you there!

November Dance – Saturday Nov. 17

Country 2-step is back(!) at our next BC Swing Dance Club dance lesson. Join Ken and Angela Wolder and your favorite dancers for a one hour country 2-step lesson, then join us for a night of West Coast Swing with a little sprinkle of country.

Based on an overwhelming vote of support, the club will now be hosting its dances one hour earlier, meaning that doors are at 6:30PM, lessons start at 7:00PM, and the dance starts at 8PM and goes until 11PM. Don’t miss out! Our dance will be at the Confederation Centre in Burnaby, located at 4585 Albert St. Parking is free and plentiful.

As usually, we’ll have a free beginner lesson offered by local instructors Michael and Amy Shibasaki. Bring your friends! If it’s your first time at our dance and you are taking the beginner lesson, you are welcome to take the beginner lesson and try the main dance for free.

Want to beat next year’s membership sign-up rush? The club will be offering renewals for memberships starting at the November dance for 2019. If you are a new member, we will also be offering two months for free – if you sign up as a new member in November or December for the full $15 membership price, we will throw in November and December’s membership as a bonus.

See you there!

The BAMEO Intensive

The British Columbia Swing Dance Club is pleased to present:

*The BAMEO Intensive Weekend* – a special weekend event, November 3-4 in Vancouver! This is in addition to our regular dance on November 17.

BAMEO is the partnership of West Coast Swing Champions Ben McHenry and Cameo Cross, both members of the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame! Learn more about them at their website http://www.bameowcs.com/

Together, they combine knowledge from multiple dance disciplines, movement/body mechanics, and WCS specifically. They are known for focusing on the most complicated concepts in WCS and simplifying them, making them easier to understand and apply. Whether they are teaching, running events, performing, or just social dancing, their goal is to spread their love and passion for WCS to dancers all over the world, and they look forward to many of years of doing just that.

The BAMEO Intensive weekend features 8 hours of all-level workshop instruction, 5 hours of social dancing (including 2 hours of social dancing with Ben and Cameo reserved for passholders), and DJ Ben McHenry for all 5 hours of social dancing.
